Scrapbook Live March 2018

Once a month I host a live online scrapbook crop… Scrapbook Live! I love getting together with friends to scrapbook.

I use a kit of scrapbook supplies from The Wild Hare Kits. These kits are custom curated. You fill out a style profile and your kit will contain items that reflect your scrappy style.

I get the Deluxe kit so there’s a ton of scrappy goodness for me to play with! The owner of The Wild Hare Kits also donates a Deluxe kit to give away during the live event… YAY!!!

Here are the layouts that I created…

12×12 Layout

I had a great time creating this layout about my Mom and her hatred for moths. I’ve actually confirmed the story about the moths being put down her shirt, although she insisted they were NOT friends!

My February pocket page features some adorable love-themed papers! I even managed to use a llama! 😉

7 Tips for Scrapbooking With Green

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I don’t think green is easy to scrapbook with. It must not be, because I have very few layouts that feature, or even include, the colour green.

Thankfully, I do have 7 great tips to scrapbook with green. Let’s focus on ways to incorporate green into your scrappy projects.

If you’ve arrived from Photos Kept Alive, welcome! At the end of this post we’ll be hopping over to see more great ways to include green in your crafty endeavours at Digital Scrapbooking HQ, but first…

7 Tips for Scrapbooking with Green

I think it’s best to start with a look at the colour wheel and how it can help guide your colour choices for scrapbooking.

1. Yellow and green.

Combining yellow and green works really well. Yellow and green are side by side on the colour wheel and you’ll find that colours that sit beside each other are great combinations.

When working with yellow and green it’s important to consider the shades of the colours that you are trying to pair up. For the layout above the green and the yellow are both strong colours that have similar tones. This makes them work harmoniously together.

2. Blue and green.

Take a quick glance at nature and it’s easy to see that blue and green are a great combination. These colours also sit side by side on the colour wheel and will be easy to combine on a layout.

3. Blue, yellow and green.

This colour combination is the perfect trio!

Since blue and yellow combine to create green, using all three colours together is a great combo.

4. Green and red.

Now let’s look at green and red. These colour are across from one another on the colour wheel. This makes them complementary colours.

We often see green and red together on Christmas layouts, but that’s not the only time to use it! Red is the perfect accent colour to use with green and will pop against your green. I’d suggest using more green and then just a touch of red if this combination makes you nervous.

5. Rainbow of colour… with green of course!

Want to use more green? Add green with a rainbow of colours.

Using a rainbow of colours is a great way to bring some more green into your scrapbooks.

6. Green with other colours.

Even though green and orange aren’t related on the colour wheel they can be great together. When mixing colours like these be sure to keep the tones of the colours consistent and you’ll get much better results.

Green and pink work well together too as you can see on this digi layout. I didn’t specifically add green, but I allowed all of the green in the photos to pop.

7. All green.

Go monochromatic and create a layout with all green!

Style Rescue Layout

Have you ever thought an outfit looked great on you only to see a photo of yourself later and be horrified by what you see?

That’s exactly what happened to me when I went to Creativation last year. On my first morning of filming booth tour videos I thought my outfit was fine. At lunch time we downloaded the videos and I was appalled by what I saw… the shirt looked awful!!!

My offending blue layered cake… so unflattering!

I quickly changed from the unflattering blue layered cake of a shirt that I had decided to wear, and the afternoon was better, but I swore I wouldn’t make that same mistake again this year.

I invited my friend Shelley over for a style rescue… she had to rescue me from making a serious fashion faux pas.

I pulled out wardrobe options and tried on various combinations. She took photos so we could see what it might look like on film.

The results? I was so relieved when I looked at the videos from Creativation 2018! My outfits look great and I could focus on the beautiful scrappy supplies… and boy were they beautiful!

Creating the Layout

I thought it would be fun to create a layout that showcased the photos we took while we were testing out my outfits.

I was also doing the LOAD218 challenge, Choose Your Own Scrapbook Adventure.

The prompt for the day was “to scrapbook a moment you should probably write down before you forget”, OR “to use supplies from your stash that you’ve forgotten about”.

I decided to do both.

I started by printing several of the ‘fashion shoot’ photos, I made them fairly small and then I thought about which supplies would go well with these photos.

Then I remembered my kit from The Fairytale Club! I’ve had this kit in my stash for a few months now. I’ve used a couple of the items but most of the kit was in tact, just waiting for the perfect layout.

I loved that the kit had such great colours, especially with the red matching the jacket I wore. I thought the pink was perfect too, as getting all dressed up to check my wardrobe was the epitome of a girly thing to do!Style rescue layout by Alice Boll with 8 photos and using a kit from The Fairytale Club. #8photos #scrapbooking #layout #pinkandred #mixingpatternedpapers

The kit had some fun embellishments and papers, I loved including the lipstick paper and the wooden pieces with the gold foil.

I love that I was able to use 6 patterned papers on this layout, and they work together so nicely and the little words that I popped up near the photos were the perfect touch.

The only things not from my Fairytale Club kit is the alpha letters for the title.

Don’t you just love those sparkle Thickers with the pink foam showing from the side!

Hmmmm…. I guess I should see what else is hiding in my stash more often!

I’m thrilled that I could include 8 photos on one 12×12 layout without it feeling cramped, or that the photos were too small.

Do you like to make layouts with lots of photos on them? Have you ever wore something you regretted? I’d love to hear about it! 😉

Happy scrapping!
