Scrapbook YOU! Day 10 {The Childhood Years}
Today we are scrapbooking siblings and/or cousins.
I’ve listed siblings and cousins together. Maybe that’s unfair – you might NEED to have both in your book. You can of course. đŸ˜‰
(Did you notice how I used the word ‘unfair’. Is that a story-starter for you?
When you’re a child, your siblings and cousins are often some of your closest friends. Let’s scrapbook these important people from our childhood.
DETAILS:
You might approach this page in a few different ways.
- Create a page about your siblings or cousins. You can describe the person, or you can discuss your relationship with them.
- Create a page that shares a story about an individual family member or do the opposite. Scrapbook a page about everyone on a single page.
- Share a funny memory or story of you together.
- Your page doesn’t have to tell about ‘only’ the happy moments. You can scrapbook the kinds of things that you would battle over as children. Who had more milk in their glass?
- Are you the oldest, youngest, or in the middle? How does this affect your relationship?
- What did you like to do together as children? Where did you hang out?
PHOTOS:
Sometimes the photo you want for a page is not an obvious choice.
In my sample layout you’ll see the photo I used is many years old, I’m the one in the yellow shirt! It is also a photo of us facing away from the camera, not the obvious choice, especially since I have many to choose from. This photo showed us hanging out together and it was near the beginning of our happy friendship as cousins, so it seemed like a good choice.

DESIGN TIPS:
This is a great opportunity to use word art for your pages. Brother, sister, cousin; these are common words to find in wood veneer and chipboard. You can cut them out with a die cut machine too.
Consider using hearts as a symbol for love. If you have brothers, and want a more masculine feeling you can try stars instead… but there’s nothing wrong with hearts on a page about boys!
You may want to add a quote to your page. Here’s a few for inspiration.
- Being sister and brother means being there for each other.
- Siblings: Your only enemy that you can’t live without.
- My brother has the best sister in the world.
- Because I have a brother, I’ll always have a friend.
- I may fight with my siblings, but once you lay a finger on them, you’ll be facing me!
- The greatest gift my parents ever gave me were my brothers.
- Together we make a family.
- If I didn’t have you as a sister, I’d choose you as a friend.
- Siblings by birth. Friends by choice.
- Older siblings: The only people who will pick on you for their own entertainment and beat up anyone else who tries.
- Sisters are the best kind of friends.
- There is no better friend than a sister, and there is no better sister than you.
- I smile because you are my sister. I laugh because you can’t do anything about it.
- We are sisters. Always remember that if you fall I will pick you up, as soon as I finish laughing.
- Cousins by chance. Friends by choice.
- World’s Okay-est Cousin.
- Cousins. Because parents couldn’t handle us a sisters.
- Be Jealous. I have the best cousins.
- Cousins are those childhood playmates who grow up to be forever friends.
