Welcome to the Scrapbook Wonderland stop of the Anything Goes Greenhearts blog hop!

In this post you’ll find two quick tips for working with brightly coloured photos.
anything goes blog hop image The last stop was Julie’s blog The Scrap Zone. The next stop is Sandra Bleiken’s blog Paper Sage, but don’t worry, I’ll remind you at the end of this post!

The scrapbook layout I’m sharing today features ‘Free to Be Me’ paper from Close to My Heart. Actually, all of the supplies are from Close to My Heart!

Design Tip: Working with bright colours.

This layout was designed to be quick and easy with some great details and design. When working with photos that have bright colours, like the bright orange t-shirt, you have a couple of options.

  1. Create a layout with bright papers to match the tone of your photos.
  2. Alter the photos to mute the colours or convert them black and white.

For this layout I felt that the fun hair cut theme would be better with bright paper and this specialty pack is bright with fun designs.

When I Grow Up

When I grow up I want to be…

Do you remember what you wanted to be as a child? My dreams changed as a child. When I was very young I wanted to be a ballerina on ice, (not a figure skater, a ballerina on ice). When I was in grade 6 my dream was to be a dentist. Later on in life I decided to become a teacher. These dreams all changed with time but I never stopped dreaming. I created a layout that pays tribute to these dreams.

when i grow up image

Use this page prompt idea for yourself:

  • What did you want to be when you grew up?
  • What did it mean to be a grown up? (from your perspective as a child)
  • Were you excited about becoming an adult?
  • What other dreams did you have as a child?
  • What are your dreams for the present?

I’d love to see your pages inspired by this prompt! You can share them with a link in the comments below, or on the Scrapbook Wonderland Facebook page.

Creative Blog Tour

ConnieHanksclickychickcreates

Connie Hanks from Clicky Chick Creates

Beautiful photography is so inspiring to me. My friend Connie Hanks shares beautiful photos and her passion for photography and scrapbooking through her site Clicky Chick Creates. I was honoured when she asked if I’d like to participate in a blog tour. In this tour each blogger answers 4 questions about what they are doing and why they do it! Before I answer my questions…

Meet Connie Hanks, mommy, wife, photographer, scrapbooker, crafter and volunteer-extraordinaire who never outgrew seeing the world as colorful as a fresh box of Crayola crayons! She resides with her “4-family” in San Diego; her loving husband with whom she fell madly in love with at just 19 years old (many, many moons ago!), and her 7- and 5-year-old daughters that are the stars of most her scrapbook pages. She loves to dream, travel, play with her daughters, sing while her hubby plays guitar and rarely misses an opportunity to be behind the lens when she’s with family and friends.

Don’t miss Connie’s inspiring post HERE.

Alice 2013

Alice Boll from Scrapbook Wonderland

Now, all about me! If you are new here, welcome! My name is Alice Boll. You can read all about me HERE. Mostly you should know that I LOVE to scrapbook, mostly about my family. My husband and I  have two teenage boys and as often as I can get a photo of them they are the stars of my scrapbook pages. I’ve been scrapbooking for over 15 years, and I have some great tricks and tips to help you create scrapbooks you love!

1. What am I working on?

I had the ultimate relaxation holiday in April with my husband. We traveled to Varadero, Cuba for a week and made a very difficult decision every day, “Should we lay by the pool or by the beach today?”. I’m creating a few scrapbook pages about our lovely escape.

Cuba vacation scrapbook sneak peek

Sneak Peek of my Cuba Vacation Scrapbook, more to come later this week!

I’ve been working on guest posting lately. You can see a recent guest post at Digital Scrapbooking HQ featuring 7 Tech Tricks HERE.

7 Tech tricks to improve scrapbooking

BREAKING NEWS! I’m so excited to share that I’m preparing to share my passion for scrapbooking through my first online class! I’m not giving away too many hints yet, but I will share a couple of tidbits over the summer. The course is to be released in September!

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?

Do you want to make scrapbooks you love? Well, I really want to help scrapbookers connect with the fun in scrapbooking and tell their stories with a bit of flair! I’ve seen so many scrapbookers get lost in the tedium of ‘getting behind’ and not feeling creative. Let me show you how to bring joy back to storytelling in your scrapbooks!

as kids see it layout

Kids really take things literally sometimes! I’m so glad I scrapped this story.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

I truly enjoy scrapbooking and I LOVE to share my passion for scrapping with others. The attendees in my classes are always commenting about how excited I am when I’m teaching a workshop. I love to hear my students say, “Wow! This is awesome!” or “I never thought of that before!” during a class. This keeps me motivated to share what I love to do.

As for why I scrapbook, I want to capture the stories and memories of my life and have fun while I do it!  You can read about my biggest regret about scrapbooking in this POST.

4.  How does your writing/creative process work?

For me scrapbooking definitely has a process! I could tell you about my process here, but instead I’d love to share my process with you AND give you a free PDF that shows you how this process can help you make scrapbooks you love. Sign up here to receive this free gift and subscribe to the Scrapbook Wonderland mailing list.

Now on with the tour! Each blogger will answer the 4 questions next week!)

Janet McCormick from Jan’s Works of Heart

First I’d like to introduce Janet McCormick from Jan’s Works of Heart.

Janet is a wife, mom (2) and step-mom (3), and grandma (10) who has been scrapbooking her, and her family’s life for the past 25 or so years. One of these days, she thinks she may even have it all caught up! (Good luck with that Jan!)
Janet was born in England and her family emigrated to Canada in 1957 and settled in Edmonton, Alberta. She has lived most of her life in Edmonton and St. Albert, Alberta, but has also spent time in Vancouver, B.C. and Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia.
Janet loves scrapbooking (in fact, all paper crafting) and has been a Close to my Heart independent consultant for three years. Janet loves CTMH and everything it stands for and hopes to uphold those standards in her day-to-day life! Meet Janet at check out her creative paper creations at Jan’s Works of Heart.

Candra Holmes from Paper Dragon Fleur

Secondly meet Candra Holmes from Paper Dragon Fleur.

Candra has always been a “Crafty Girl” and discovered paper crafting when she and her husband were given the opportunity to live in Portland, OR for 5 years. They loved their Portland adventure but have happily been back on the west coast of Vancouver Island (BC, Canada) for a few years now.
Candra and her husband have a very bright, very busy, little boy and she’s glad to have the support of  both her husband and son in her creative pursuits. They have been known to bring her snacks when she’s immersed in a project!
Currently Candra is a stay at home mom and a Close To My Heart Independent Consultant (Candra truly loves their products!).  She hosts several clubs/workshops each month which allows her to not only share her crafty girl creations but she gets to visit while everyone creates! You can learn more about Candra at her bright and colourful blog, Paper Dragon Fleur.

GinaZeefromMesstakenidentity

Gina Zee from Messtaken Identity

Finally meet my friend GinaZee from Messtaken Identity. I was slow asking her to join this tour and she was already a part of it, so this is a great chance to cross paths with a different branch of the tour! Gina has a unique approach to crafting…

GinaZee loves crafting and finding ways to use things in as many ways as possible in the life of that item. She doesn’t like to throw things away. All that excess we send to the landfills bothers her.
GinaZee likes to share with others and help keep discards from losing their identity completely. She also thrives on meeting new people and making new friends, sharing experiences and thoughts. GinaZee has mentors that have taught and encouraged her to think of things in a new way. Learn more about GinaZee and Eco-Crafting at Messtaken Identity.
I hope you’ll visit these talented gals on the tour!
Let your creativity shine!
